Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) is by far the greatest name in Finnish classical music. His orchestral works included seven symphonies and symphonic poems inspired by legends in the national epic, the "Kalevala". The old Hotel Kamp was a favourite haunt of Sibelius and his illustricious circle of friends. It also roves to be an artistic inspiration for him and he dedicated the Musette "I am off to Kämp again" in the play "King Christian II" because he missed the restaurant evenings at the hotel so much after moving from Helsinki to Järvenpää.
